Links for Current Location – there are two ways to track us.

1) Current Location – SPOT MESSENGER website .  This ride is being tracked by SPOT SATELLITE MESSENGER (if on), a device that transmits it’s GPS coordinates every 10 minutes to a website. The device also has some nice features because you have several differenet types of messages. One of them is a 911 service – if you need immeditate help (such as an accident or medical emergency), you send a 911 signal and the service will immediately send out help to your location. Another type is the “OK” message to let predetermined email reciepents that you are OK.

The beauty of this device is you can track a trail. The most accurate information is through this link – SPOT TRACKER (which also has a link on the front page of this Blog), but will be also testing out another map that feed off the same info.

To use the maps, just use your mouse and you can drag ithe map around. You can change the map type (map, sat, hybrid) to your preference. You can also use the + and – for zooming.

2) Beta Testing (Map Below):  While surfing the web looking for a plug-in for SPOT, I came across SomeGuyIn Nevada.com.  This guy was working on a FindMeSpot plug-in for wordpress.  He is still beta testing it and I offered up to help out.  It is a pretty cool plug-in as it also gives the user weather info that the coordinates is currently experiencing and also the google street view if availalbe.  Just click on the last SPOT message in the list on the right of the map, and a little pop-up will happen giving current weather information about the location and a link for a google street view if available.  Click on the street view and it will load in the map.  Click the “x” on the street view to get back to the map.  You can do that for any of the SPOT messages – pretty neat!  Click on the weather link, and a more detail weather window will open.  Again, this is in Beta, so report any bugs –  don’t know if SomeGuyIn Nevada will be monitoring or not or joining in on the disscussions, but I’ll report back to him what you guys find out.
